Deserted - oil
This fine old farmhouse is on a property where my plein air group paints almost yearly. I love old buildings, but avoided painting that particular one for a few years. I am so drawn to the gentle dignity of decaying buildings and I always wonder what stories they would tell if they could talk. I guess I was worried about capturing how this building spoke to me, but I finally tackled it one warm summer morning.
"Deserted"is painted in oil paints using a warm orange lone on the carvas to help contrast the warmth and sun of summer with the cooling decay of the farmhouse.
